This handmade Turkish vintage rug was hand-knotted about 40–50 years ago, combining wool on cotton with a distinctly all-over decorative structure.
Its professionally washed, lower-pile surface produces the distressed look associated with these washed vintage Turkish carpets. The field is organized as an all-over composition rather than around a single central device, keeping the pattern visually continuous.
In the main image, the palette reads as muted red tones, with a heavily softened, low-contrast pattern. The border remains visually connected to the field rather than appearing newly restored, which helps retain the rug’s aged character.
At approximately 214 x 314 cm, the 7x10 format works well as an area rug in a living room, bedroom or dining space where some surrounding floor can remain visible. Its subdued surface pairs easily with wood, linen, leather and other natural materials.
Natural asymmetry, tonal change and pile variation are consistent with its age and hand-knotted construction. Professionally washed and prepared for use, it remains a one-of-a-kind Turkish vintage rug. The wool-on-cotton structure provides a durable foundation beneath the softened vintage pile. The softened wool surface also lets the original border and field structure remain visible without the sharper contrast of a newly woven carpet.
Professionally washed and in excellent condition, this one-of-a-kind vintage Turkish rug is ready to use.
