Created as a new rug from reclaimed Chaput yarns, this handwoven piece uses a balanced mix of reclaimed tones with multicolor tones helping organize the overall composition. The result is a contemporary recycled rug with visible texture, natural variation and the kind of irregularity that gives handmade weaving its character. The surface is organized as an all-over composition, with color and texture distributed continuously across the field. This gives the rug a relaxed modern character and allows the different reclaimed fibers to contribute equally to the overall design.

The starting point for this rug is a group of Chaput kilims that are taken apart so their yarns can be reused. The recovered fibers are selected, combined and handwoven again, transforming existing material into a new contemporary floor textile. Instead of hiding those differences, the handweaving uses them as part of the design, producing subtle changes in texture, density and color across the rug.
