This hand-knotted Persian rug, approximately 50–70 years old, combines wool on cotton with a clearly readable medallion composition. A medallion layout defines the composition and separates this piece from other rugs in the same collection.
A medallion-centered layout directs attention toward the middle of the rug, while the border gives the overall design a formal frame.
Beige and muted natural tones dominate the image, giving the surviving Persian pattern a subdued, low-contrast appearance. The softened transition between motifs, field and border gives the surface a naturally aged character rather than the sharp contrast of a newly woven rug.
At approximately 196 x 287 cm, this 6x9 Persian rug can sit beneath the front legs of a seating group, define a bedroom zone or add pattern beneath a dining arrangement, depending on the room scale. Its cotton foundation supports the hand-knotted wool structure, while age and washing have mellowed the surface into a quieter decorative layer.
Minor shifts in color, pile and pattern alignment are natural in an older hand-knotted textile and help distinguish this one-of-a-kind piece.
Professionally washed and in excellent condition, this one-of-a-kind vintage Persian rug is ready to use.
