Handwoven in Turkey from reclaimed Chaput fibers, this recycled rug is defined by a softened, naturally varied palette with multicolor tones helping organize the overall composition. The changing yarns create a richly textured surface and give the design a one-of-a-kind contemporary identity. The composition has a clean contemporary character, allowing color, texture and the irregularity of the reclaimed yarns to define the surface. The result feels modern without losing the warmth and individuality of handweaving.

The starting point for this rug is a group of Chaput kilims that are taken apart so their yarns can be reused. The recovered fibers are selected, combined and handwoven again, transforming existing material into a new contemporary floor textile. The fiber mix may combine wool, cotton, goat hair, hemp and other reclaimed textile materials from the original Chaput kilims. The variety of fibers gives the finished surface a richly tactile quality and makes every rug visually distinct.

In an interior, the piece brings together sustainability, color and handcraft without looking overly rustic. It can sit comfortably beside clean-lined modern furniture, collected vintage objects or natural materials, making it a flexible choice for layered spaces. Small variations in color, line and texture are natural to both the reclaimed materials and the handwoven process, and they are part of what makes the rug visually individual.

No two rugs can be exactly the same, since the reclaimed Chaput yarns available for each weaving differ in color, fiber and thickness. This makes the finished rug a one-of-a-kind contemporary piece shaped by both traditional handweaving and a practical approach to material reuse.
