At 6'5" x 11'8" (196 x 355 cm), this is a long rug for a long room. It suits a living room where the sofa and chairs rest with their front legs on it, an open-plan space that needs one large surface to tie the seating together, a wide hallway, or a bedroom with the rug running the length of the bed. The pale color keeps a long room from feeling heavy.

Handmade in Turkey approximately 30–40 years ago, flat-woven with wool on a cotton foundation. There is no knotted pile: at about 0.08" (2 mm) thick and 8 lbs (4 kg), the rug is thin and light, so it lies flat under doors and furniture and can be layered over a larger rug or carpet.

The surface is evenly worn and slightly softened with age, and the stripes vary in tone across the width, which is normal in a hand-woven piece of this kind. A few faint straight lines run through the weave. The photos show this exact rug, including close views of the corners and edges.

Vacuum regularly using suction only, without a beater bar. A rug pad is worth using: a flat weave this thin slides easily on hard floors. Rotate the rug every few months so it wears evenly, and blot spills immediately with a clean, dry cloth rather than rubbing.
